Jen Squires, our liaison for the Worthington Estates School, went to the Worthington curriculum meeting on February 20. OnWorthington City School's main website you will find a fantastic PowerPoint that shows all that was discussed during that meeting. They are looking at starting a new program, the Worthington Academy, for when kids are leave and then return are having gaps so we are looking at a nontraditional learning from middle to high school.

October 2013 Newsletter

At the October 8 PTA meeting, we discussed the PTA’s upcoming Teacher Grant program, heard a presentation about our school and district’s bullying policies by Principal Forsgren, and got updates on the year’s upcoming Scholastic Book Fair, Spiritwear, and the effort to invest in our school’s grounds — benches in the North courtyard and a new sign out front.

We also had a pair of visitors give an informational chat about the upcoming Issue 53, the Worthington Libraries levy.

The PTA plans to establish a $5,000 per year grant fund for which teachers can apply throughout the year for big-ticket items for their classrooms or grades. We’re excited to provide a new way to help our teachers in the classroom. Teachers are asked to fill out an application, available from Principal Forsgren. The teacher or teachers will then come in and present their request at the PTA meeting that is scheduled at least two weeks after their application is presented. The members and board will then have a chance to vote on (or table) the request — another great reason to show up at meetings!

Keep an eye on our PTA’s Facebook page. Stay in tune with our school and come to PTA meetings! Don’t forget, free babysitting is included!
